Egg whites reduce cholesterol while providing protein.

Fill a saucepan or wok with about an inch of water and bring it to a boil.

Carefully lower the eggs from the fridge into the boiling water, ensuring they are in a single layer.

Cover the saucepan or wok with a lid.

Set a timer for 9 minutes for hard-boiled eggs with a golden yolk.

After 9 minutes, remove the eggs from the water.

If you want a paler yellow yolk, cook for 11-12 minutes; for a medium egg, cook for about 6 minutes; for a soft-boiled egg, cook for 3-4 minutes.

If eggs are difficult to peel, consider pricking a small hole in the fat end of the egg to relieve pressure before boiling.

Use eggs from a brand with thick shells to reduce the risk of cracking during boiling.
