Bread Kunafa, a beloved dessert in Middle Eastern cuisine, is thought to have originated in the Levant region, particularly in Lebanon and Syria. Traditionally served during Ramadan and special occasions, it symbolizes hospitality and celebration. The dish features layers of crispy bread soaked in sweet syrup, often filled with creamy cheese or nuts. Today, variations of kunafa can be found globally, each reflecting local flavors and ingredients, making it a versatile favorite.

Melt 250 grams of unsalted butter in a bowl.
Add icing sugar to the melted butter and mix well with the kunafa until fully combined.
In a separate pot, combine milk, corn flour, and plain flour; heat until thickened to create the cream.
Prepare the syrup by mixing sugar, water, and lemon juice in a pot and heating until ready.
Grease a circular oven tray with butter.
Layer the kunafa in the greased tray, pressing down as you go to shape it properly.
Add a layer of the cream mixture on top of the kunafa layer.
Sprinkle pistachios and coconut over the cream layer.
Add another layer of kunafa on top of the cream and toppings.
Bake in the oven until golden brown (exact time not specified in the video).
While the kunafa is hot, pour the hot syrup over it immediately after removing from the oven.
