Cover the dough with a damp towel or food wrapping film and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Gently fold in pearl sugar until evenly distributed.
Cover the bowl of dough again with a towel or food wrapping film and let the dough rise again.
Preheat the waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions.
Divide the dough into portions and place in the preheated waffle iron.
Cook until golden brown and crisp, about 3-5 minutes.
Remove from the waffle iron and let cool slightly before serving.
