1

Soak 1 cup of Goan par boiled rice and 1 cup of chana dal overnight after washing them a couple of times.

2

Strain the soaked rice and chana dal, discarding the water.

3

In a pressure cooker, add the soaked rice and chana dal with 3 and 1/2 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of salt. Mix well.

4

Cover the pressure cooker and cook on medium heat for two whistles. Let it cool down before opening.

5

In a mixer grinder, add 1 and 1/2 cups of freshly grated coconut and 3/4 cup of water to extract thick coconut milk.

6

Strain the mixture to get thick coconut milk, then repeat with the remaining coconut to get thin coconut milk.

7

In a thick bottom pan, add the thin coconut milk and both types of jaggery. Cook until the jaggery melts completely.

8

Add the thick coconut milk and the cooked rice and chana dal mixture. Stir well and cook, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.

9

Add 3/4 teaspoon of green cardamom powder and mix. Cook until the mixture thickens and passes the line test.

10

Add 1 teaspoon of ghee and mix well. Turn off the heat and transfer the mixture to a greased plate or container to set.

11

Cool completely and refrigerate for 4 to 5 hours or overnight before serving.
