Ethiopian Ful, or Ful Medames, is a traditional dish made from fava beans, often enjoyed for breakfast or as a hearty snack. Originating from the Horn of Africa, it reflects the region's agricultural practices and communal dining culture. Typically served with bread, it embodies the simplicity and richness of Ethiopian cuisine. Today, Ful has found popularity beyond Ethiopia, with variations appearing in Middle Eastern and North African cuisines, showcasing its versatility and appeal.

Add the contents of the can of fava beans, including the liquid, into a pot.
Turn the burner to medium heat (about 4) and let it cook until moisture is absorbed.
Once most of the moisture has been absorbed, reduce the heat.
Mash the beans in the pot using a cup or jar to your preference.
Add 1 tablespoon of avocado oil to the mashed beans and mix well.
Stir in the chopped tomatoes, onions, jalapeno, cumin, and lime juice.
Cook for about 3 minutes to allow the tomatoes and onions to soften.
Taste and add about 1/2 teaspoon of salt, adjusting as needed.
Turn off the heat and serve with pita bread.
