Puto Maya

Cultural Context

Puto Maya is a traditional Filipino rice cake originating from the Visayas region, often enjoyed during celebrations and festivals. It reflects the Filipino love for rice-based desserts, combining glutinous rice with coconut milk for a rich, sweet treat. Today, variations abound, with some incorporating fruits like mango, making it a popular snack or dessert in many Filipino households.
