Today, variations exist, including those made with different fillings or toppings, making them a versatile treat enjoyed year-round.

Combine 125 ml hot water and 125 ml cold milk to make a warm liquid, totaling 250 ml.
Sift together 500 g plain flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 teaspoons yeast, 0.5 teaspoon ground cardamom, and 60 g sugar in a bowl.
Pour the warm liquid into the dry ingredients, crack in 1 egg, and add 60 g softened butter.
Mix gently until a soft and pliable dough forms, avoiding flour flying everywhere.
Add 2 teaspoons glycerin (or substitute with 2 teaspoons cooking oil) to the dough and mix until combined.
Dump the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Add 150 g raisins to the dough, folding them in gradually until fully incorporated.
Shape the dough into a tight ball, lightly greasing it with sunflower oil, and place it back in the bowl.
Cover the bowl tightly with cling film and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 1.5 hours.
Gently deflate the risen dough and divide it into 18 equal pieces.
Grease glass trays with softened butter instead of using parchment paper.
Shape each piece into a tight ball by pinching the center and turning it over.
Let the shaped buns rise for about 30 minutes, covered with a plastic bag or kitchen towel.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).
Prepare the egg wash by whisking together 1 egg and 1 tablespoon milk.
Gently brush the egg wash over the buns without deflating them.
Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 20 minutes until golden brown and shiny.
Allow the buns to cool slightly before removing them from the tray.
