Traditionally made during festivals or family gatherings, these crispy treats are enjoyed for their crunch and flavor. Today, they are widely available in markets and have inspired various regional adaptations, making them a beloved snack across India and beyond.

Whole wheat flour adds fiber and nutrients.

black sesame seeds

cumin seeds

Ground cumin is easier to use but may lack freshness.
In a bowl, add 2 cups of wheat flour.
Add 1 tablespoon of caraway seeds, 1 tablespoon of cumin seeds, and salt to taste.
Add 1 tablespoon of oil and mix well.
Gradually add water and knead into a soft dough like chapati dough.
Divide the dough into 8 balls.
Roll each ball into thin circles like chapatis.
In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of oil with 1 tablespoon of wheat flour and 1 tablespoon of corn flour to make a paste.
Take one rolled chapati and spread the paste evenly on it.
Layer another chapati on top and spread some oil on it.
Repeat this for a total of 4 chapatis, layering them with the paste in between.
Roll the layered chapatis tightly and apply some oil on the outside.
Cut the rolled chapati into small pieces using a knife or pizza cutter.
Heat oil in a pan over medium flame.
Once the oil is hot, add the cut pieces one by one into the oil.
Fry until golden brown, flipping occasionally to ensure even cooking.
