Today, variations can be found worldwide, with different flavors and decorations, but the classic green marzipan finish remains a hallmark of this delightful treat.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
In a mixing bowl, add 10 eggs, 1.5 cups sugar, and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, and beat on high speed for 10 minutes until fluffy.
Add 2 tablespoons vegetable oil and mix.
In another bowl, whisk together 1.5 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
Add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture in batches while mixing on low speed.
Prepare two half sheet baking pans by lining with parchment paper and spraying with avocado spray.
Use an ice cream scoop to distribute the batter evenly into the pans, smoothing it out.
Bake for about 13 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
Let the cakes cool and run a knife around the edges to release from the pans.
Prepare simple syrup by boiling 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water, then add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and let cool.
Make pastry cream by heating 4 cups milk and 1.5 cups sugar until steaming.
In a bowl, whisk together 8 egg yolks, remaining sugar, 8 tablespoons corn starch, and 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream.
Temper the egg mixture with the hot milk, then return to the pot and cook until thickened.
Remove from heat and stir in 2 tablespoons butter and 3 teaspoons vanilla extract, then strain and cool.
Make marzipan by mixing 2 egg whites, 2 cups almond flour, 1 cup confectioner sugar, and 1 teaspoon almond extract until a thick batter forms.
In a stand mixer, combine 3 cups confectioner sugar with the almond paste, then add 3 tablespoons corn syrup and green food coloring.
