Surf and Turf, a classic American dish, combines the indulgence of steak with the delicacy of seafood, often served on special occasions. This dish is a celebration of flavors and textures, showcasing the best of both land and sea. While traditionally featuring lobster or crab, shrimp is a popular and accessible alternative, making this dish beloved in homes and restaurants alike.

Peel 4 russet potatoes and cut them into pieces.
Place the cut potatoes in a large pot, add 1 teaspoon of salt, and cover with water.
Bring the pot to a boil and cook the potatoes for 10 minutes.
Check if the potatoes are done by piercing one with a fork.
Drain the water from the pot and mash the potatoes.
Add 4 tablespoons of butter to the mashed potatoes and stir until fully incorporated.
If there are lumps, cream the potatoes through a fine mesh strainer for a fluffier texture.
Return the mashed potatoes to the pot.
In a small saucepan, add 1 cup of cream, 2 crushed garlic cloves, and 2 sprigs of rosemary, and simmer over low heat for about 5 minutes.
Gradually add the cream mixture through a fine mesh strainer into the potatoes, folding until smooth.
Fold in 1/4 cup of sour cream, 2 ounces of cream cheese, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper into the potatoes and set aside.
Prepare the steak by making a steak rub with 1/2 tablespoon of seasoned salt, 1/2 tablespoon of smoked paprika, 1 teaspoon of pepper, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of oregano, 1/8 teaspoon of white pepper, 1/8 teaspoon of cumin, and 1/2 teaspoon of brown sugar.
Rub olive oil all over the ribeye steak and coat it generously with the steak rub.
Let the steak sit for 30 minutes to reach room temperature.
In an iron skillet over medium to medium-high heat, add oil and when almost smoking, add the steak.
Cook the steak for 2 minutes on each side, optionally adding more steak rub.
Add 2-3 tablespoons of butter, 2 sprigs of rosemary, 2 sprigs of thyme, and 2 cloves of garlic to the skillet and baste the steak with the melted butter.
Transfer the skillet to an oven preheated to 375 degrees and cook for 6-12 minutes depending on thickness and desired doneness.
Let the steak rest for 8-10 minutes after cooking.
Prepare the shrimp by peeling and deveining 7 large shrimp.
In a pan over medium heat, melt some butter and add the shrimp.
Season the shrimp with Old Bay seasoning, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika.
Sauté the shrimp for about 4-5 minutes and set aside after cooking.
In a large pan over medium heat, melt butter and add asparagus, seasoning with salt, pepper, and optional lemon juice.
Cook the asparagus until tender and slightly flimsy.
Plate the steak, shrimp, and asparagus together.
