Mix refined flour and baking powder together in a bowl.
In a separate bowl, beat sugar and water until the mixture is fluffy.
Add vanilla essence to the mixture and continue beating.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients while mixing.
Ensure the batter reaches a ribbon consistency before proceeding.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking tray and spread evenly.
Bake in a preheated oven at 220 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes.
Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before rolling.
Roll the sponge cake carefully with the butter paper to form a Swiss roll.
