Warm 300 milliliters of milk to no more than 30 degrees Celsius.
Dissolve 20 grams of yeast in a little warm water.
Add 30 grams of sugar to the yeast mixture and let it react for a moment.
In a large bowl, mix 500 grams of flour and 14 grams of salt together.
Add the yeast mixture and the warm milk to the flour and salt mixture.
Cut 100 grams of butter into small pieces and add it to the mixture.
Knead the dough for 5 to 10 minutes until it is smooth and no longer sticky.
Cover the dough and let it rise for 30 minutes.
Separate the egg and keep the yolk for later use.
Roll the dough into a long rope, about 15 centimeters thick in the middle and thinner at the ends.
Braid the dough and pinch the ends to seal.
Let the braided dough rest for 10 to 15 minutes to dry out and become shiny.
Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius.
Bake the bread for 35 minutes until golden brown and crusty.
