butter

🥗Healthier: coconut oil

💰Cheaper: margarine

Coconut oil reduces saturated fat while maintaining moisture.

🥗Healthier: fruit puree

💰Cheaper: homemade jam

Fruit puree lowers sugar content and can be made with fresh fruit.

1

In a large bowl, combine 200 grams of unsalted butter at room temperature with 200 grams of sugar.

2

Using an electric mixer, mix these ingredients at high speed.

3

While mixing, add 2 eggs at room temperature and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, continuing to mix until well combined.

4

Set the mixer aside and sift 450 grams of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and a pinch of salt into the bowl.

5

Use a spatula to mix until a dough starts to form, adding more flour if the dough is sticky.

6

Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for one hour.

7

In the meantime, prepare 650 grams of guava paste by adding 2 tablespoons of hot water and mashing it with a fork until smooth.

8

After refrigerating, roll out the dough to about 4mm thickness between two sheets of parchment paper.

9

Use a 30 cm removable tart pan, cut the excess dough, and press it into the pan.

10

Prick the base with a fork to prevent bubbles during baking.

11

Spread the guava paste evenly over the base.

12

Roll out the remaining dough to 4mm thickness and cut into 1 cm strips for the lattice top.

13

Arrange the strips diagonally over the guava paste, leaving 1 cm between them.

14

Brush the lattice and edges with a beaten egg for a golden color.

15

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for 40 minutes or until golden brown.

16

Let cool completely before removing from the pan.
