Traditionally, they symbolize wealth and prosperity, as their shape resembles ancient Chinese coins. Today, dumplings are enjoyed globally, with various fillings and cooking methods reflecting local tastes and traditions.

Combine 1 cup flour and 1/2 cup water in a bowl and smoosh together.
Knead the mixture a little in the bowl, then set aside to rest while preparing the filling.
Mix ground beef with 2 teaspoons of cooking wine and 3 teaspoons of soy sauce.
Add a handful of pre-boiled water with star anise to the beef mixture and let it cool down before mixing it in.
Achieve a slimy consistency with the ground beef mixture by mixing well.
Add 1-2 tablespoons of sesame oil to the beef mixture for flavor.
Incorporate diced onion and diced ginger into the filling mixture.
After resting, cut the dough into pieces for individual dumplings.
Flatten each piece of dough on a floured surface using one hand, while holding the other hand with the dough.
Place filling in the center of the dough and use fingers to pinch and seal the dumpling.
Repeat the process for all dough pieces to form dumplings.
Fry the dumplings until golden brown.
Serve with a dipping sauce made of soy sauce and rice vinegar.
