Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
Add butter to the flour mixture and mix with hands until combined.
Gradually pour in milk and knead the dough for about 4 to 5 minutes until smooth.
Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest until it doubles in size, about 45 minutes.
Prepare the filling by mixing grated coconut with ginger powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
Add sugar to the coconut mixture and mix well.
Pour in vanilla essence and red food coloring, mixing until the coconut is evenly coated.
Punch down the rested dough and divide it in half.
Roll out one half of the dough with a rolling pin.
Spread melted butter on the rolled-out dough.
Add the coconut filling evenly, avoiding the edges to prevent leaking.
Fold the dough tightly over the filling, sealing the edges to prevent leakage.
Place the rolled dough onto parchment paper and transfer it to a baking pan.
Let the filled dough rest for 20 to 30 minutes before baking.
Preheat the oven and bake the dough for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
Brush melted butter on top of the hot salara after removing it from the oven.
Allow the salara to cool for about an hour before cutting into pieces.
