Traditionally cooked in a tandoor, this flatbread is often enjoyed with curries and gravies, making it a beloved accompaniment at meals. The garlic butter variation adds a fragrant twist, making it a favorite in Indian restaurants and homes alike. Today, naan has gained global popularity, often found in various forms across the world.

Garlic powder provides similar flavor with longer shelf life.
Mix 2 cups flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 tablespoon salt, and 1 tablespoon baking powder in a bowl.
Add 200ml of milk and 3 tablespoons of cooking oil to the dry ingredients.
Knead the dough just enough to mix it well, then let it sit for about 15 minutes.
Divide the dough into small balls.
Spread each ball of dough flat; the shape doesn't matter.
Sprinkle minced garlic on top of the flattened dough.
Sprinkle chopped cilantro (coriander) on top; parsley can be used as a substitute if cilantro is unavailable.
Press the garlic and cilantro lightly into the dough.
Wet the back of the naan with water.
Place the naan on a cast iron or stainless steel pan without oil.
Wait until there is smoke, then turn the naan upside down and bake it directly over the fire.
After cooking, spread butter on the naan for a soft finish.
