Naan, a staple of Indian cuisine, has roots in Central Asia and was popularized in India during the Mughal era. Traditionally cooked in a tandoor, this flatbread is often enjoyed with curries and gravies, making it a beloved accompaniment at meals. The garlic butter variation adds a fragrant twist, making it a favorite in Indian restaurants and homes alike. Today, naan has gained global popularity, often found in various forms across the world.
all-purpose flour

In a bowl, mix together milk, sugar and yeast. Add flour and salt. Mix until incorporated. Then add oil and knead until smooth. Round into a ball and place in an oiled bowl. Cover for 50 to 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
Meanwhile, let's make Garlic Butter. In a small bowl, mix together minced garlic, chopped parsley and melted butter. Then set aside.
After dough is proofed, punch air out and transfer to a clean and lightly floured counter. Divide into 10 equal pieces or 8 for a bigger naan. Round into a ball, cover and bench rest for at least 10 minutes.
Roll out and flatten each dough about 7 to 8 inches in diameter. Heat a tawa pan or cast iron pan on medium heat. Brush with oil and place the flattened dough. Cook for 60 to 90 seconds each side.
Keep the cooked naan inside a kitchen towel to keep warm and fresh. Brush with prepared Garlic Butter mixture.
Serve and enjoy!
