Beat 1/2 cup unsalted butter and 1/2 cup sugar for 5-7 minutes until light and creamy.
Add 1 tsp vanilla extract and mix.
Add 3 large eggs one at a time, beating after each addition until well incorporated.
Gently stir in 1 cup plain flour until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
Turn a 22x33cm cake pan upside down and spread butter evenly on the surface.
Spread half of the batter evenly in a thin layer without any see-through spots.
Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
Bake for about 3 minutes until opaque, being careful not to let it brown.
While the cake is hot, spread a thin layer of Nutella (about 1/4 cup or 75g) over it.
Repeat the process using a clean pan and the remaining batter.
Refrigerate the cake for 1 to 2 hours before serving.
