4 servings
Servings4
1 cup urad dal (split black gram)
1/4 cup rice
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp salt
4 cups yogurt
1/2 tsp black salt
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp chaat masala
1/4 cup tamarind chutney
1/4 cup coriander chutney
2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander
2 tbsp chopped fresh mint

Quantities are estimated based on standard recipes for your convenience. The actual ingredients used in this video are accurate.

1

Soak the urad dal and rice in water for 4-6 hours or overnight.

2

Drain the soaked dal and rice, then blend them together with cumin seeds and salt to form a smooth batter.

3

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

4

In a large bowl, whisk the yogurt until smooth. Add black salt, red chili powder, and chaat masala to the yogurt and mix well.

5

Soak the fried bhallas (dumplings) in warm water for about 10 minutes to soften them.

6

Gently squeeze out excess water from the bhallas and place them on a serving plate.

7

Pour the spiced yogurt over the bhallas, ensuring they are well coated.

8

Drizzle tamarind and coriander chutneys over the yogurt-covered bhallas.

9

Garnish with chopped coriander and mint leaves.

10

Serve immediately as a refreshing appetizer or snack.
