Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).
Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, add 1 cup of margarine (or softened butter).
Using a hand mixer, whip the margarine for around 1 minute until it changes color to pale yellow and becomes fluffy.
Add 3/4 cup of sugar and fold in using a spatula.
Crack in 2 room temperature eggs and whip everything together on high speed for 2 to 3 minutes until smooth and fluffy.
Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence and mix.
Add baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt, then mix everything without a mixer.
Gradually add flour while mixing with a spatula until a dough forms.
If the dough is sticky, sprinkle some flour until it becomes soft but not sticky.
Roll out the dough on a floured countertop and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies.
Transfer the cut-out cookies to the baking tray, spacing them apart.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until the cookies are browned.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking tray for 2 to 3 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.
In a bowl, mix 1 and 1/2 cups of powdered sugar with around 4 to 5 teaspoons of water until you achieve a thick but flowing consistency.
In another bowl, mix a small amount of powdered sugar with water to create a thinner glaze.
Mix red gel food color into the first bowl of icing to create a colored glaze.
Dunk cooled cookies into the glaze, shaking off the excess.
Drizzle the white glaze over the colored glaze for a marbling effect.
Refrigerate the glazed cookies for around 5 minutes to set the glaze.
