Iced Chai Latte has its roots in the traditional Indian chai, a spiced tea enjoyed across the country. Chai is often a symbol of hospitality, served to guests as a warm welcome. The iced version has gained popularity globally, especially in cafes, where it offers a refreshing twist on the classic beverage, perfect for warm weather.
Quantities are estimated based on standard recipes for your convenience. The actual ingredients used in this video are accurate.
For the instant method, fill a cup about 1/3 full with Rishi chai concentrate.
Add a splash of whipping cream.
Top off with whole milk, leaving room for ice.
Drop in 3 to 4 ice cubes and stir well.
For the fast method using loose leaf chai, place 2 mounted teaspoons of loose leaf chai tea into a tea strainer and put it in a cup.
Pour enough boiling water (about half a cup) over the tea to cover it.
Cover with a plate and steep for 5 to 10 minutes, noting that a 10-minute steep will yield a stronger flavor but may be more bitter.
For the tea bag version, place 2 chai tea bags into a cup and pour half a cup of boiling water on top.
Cover with a plate and steep for 5 to 10 minutes, then squeeze out the tea bags to extract flavor.
Add 1 teaspoon of maple syrup and 1/4 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract to the brewed tea.
Add 3 to 4 ice cubes to the cup.
Pour 1/4 to 1/3 cup of whipping cream on top and then add 1/3 cup of whole milk.
Put a lid on the jar and shake well, or stir with a spoon.
For the homemade chai concentrate, open 13 tea bags and place them in 2 and 1/2 cups of boiling water in a measuring cup.
Cover with a plate and steep for 5 to 10 minutes, then squeeze out the tea bags using a slotted spoon.
Add 2 tablespoons plus 1/2 teaspoon of pure maple syrup and 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract to the concentrate and stir well.
Pour the chai concentrate into a storage container.
To make an iced chai latte, ladle 6 to 8 tablespoons of the homemade chai concentrate into a cup.
Add 3 to 4 ice cubes, pour 1/4 to 1/3 cup of whipping cream on top, and then add 1/3 cup of whole milk.
Shake or stir well and enjoy.
