Sweet Potato Tikki Chaat

2 medium sweet potatoes
1/2 cup chickpea flour (besan)
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
1 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp lemon juice

Boil the sweet potatoes until tender, then peel and mash them in a bowl.

Add chickpea flour, chopped onion, coriander leaves, cumin powder, red chili powder, garam masala, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice to the mashed sweet potatoes.

Mix all the ingredients well until combined. If the mixture is too soft, add a little more chickpea flour.

Divide the mixture into small portions and shape them into flat patties (tikkis).

Heat oil in a pan over medium heat for shallow frying.

Once the oil is hot, carefully place the tikkis in the pan and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Remove the tikkis from the pan and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Serve hot with chutney or yogurt, garnished with additional coriander if desired.
