Vegan Chocolate Cake

400 g sugar
100 g sunflower oil
400 g water

420 g self raising flour
60 g cocoa powder
150 g orange juice
1 tsp baking soda
300 g vegan chocolate couverture
50 g sunflower oil

Mix together 400 g sugar, 100 g sunflower oil, and 400 g water until well combined.

Add a pinch of salt and mix again.

Sift in 420 g self raising flour and 60 g cocoa powder, then mix well.

Add 150 g orange juice and 1 tsp baking soda, and mix well until fully combined.

Grease and line a 25 cm diameter baking pan with parchment paper.

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan.

Preheat the oven to 170 C (340 F).

Bake the cake for 1 hour.

While the cake is baking, melt 300 g vegan chocolate couverture and 50 g sunflower oil in the oven while it's still hot.

Remove the cake from the baking pan and pour the melted chocolate over the cake.

Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the cake with a spatula.
