Khara Pongal

Moong Dal - 1/2 cup
water - 5 cups
Salt - 1 tsp
Turmeric pwd - 1/4 tsp
Black Pepper - 1/2 tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Cashew few
Ghee - 2 tsp
Chopped greenchilli few
Curry leaves few
Heengu pinch

Take a cooker and add rinsed rice and moong dal.

Add water, salt, turmeric powder, and oil to the cooker.

Cover the cooker and cook for 10 minutes or until 5 whistles.

Mix well and keep aside.

In a pan on low flame, add ghee.

Add black pepper, cumin, mustard seeds, and cashews to the ghee and mix well.

Cook on low flame for 2 minutes.

Add chopped green chili and curry leaves, then add a pinch of heeng.

Sauté well and transfer to the cooker.
