Peel and dice the potatoes.
Boil the diced potatoes in 1 liter of water until they are soft.
Add 2 teaspoons of caraway seeds to the boiling potatoes.
Add half a teaspoon of salt to the pot.
Peel 5 cloves of garlic and chop them into pieces if needed for the garlic press.
Cut a slice of sourdough bread into small squares.
Heat a pan and add a heaping tablespoon of lard.
Once the lard is melted, add the diced bread and fry the pieces from all sides until golden brown.
Transfer the golden brown croutons onto a plate.
Once the potatoes are boiled, add 1 teaspoon of dried marjoram to the soup.
Add the garlic using a garlic press to the soup.
Boil the soup for about 1 minute for a fresh strong taste.
Taste the soup and add more salt if needed.
If the taste is too strong, boil the soup for a little bit longer to cook the garlic more.
Transfer the soup to a bowl and add the croutons just before serving.
