Boil water in a large pot.

Turn the heat back on and bring the mixture to almost a boil, then reduce to low heat to barely simmer.

Let it simmer for 45 minutes to an hour.

Leave the spice ball with the spices in the pot for another hour to an hour and a half, then remove it to avoid overpowering the tea with cloves.

Serve the tea warm, optionally from a crock pot for gatherings.
