Warm milk in a saucepan until lukewarm, then stir in sugar and yeast until dissolved.
Let the mixture sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and cardamom.
Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs to the flour mixture.
Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Once risen, punch down the dough and knead in saffron until evenly distributed.
Divide the dough into equal pieces and shape each into an 'S' or spiral form.
Place the shaped buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Brush the buns with egg wash and place raisins on top for decoration.
Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
