1

Boil water for making decoction.

2

Prepare the south Indian coffee press with the decoction collector at the bottom.

3

Add 3 to 3.5 heaped tablespoons of coffee and chicory mix to the press.

4

Lightly press the coffee mix without making it too compact.

5

Place the sieve with the coffee mix on top of the decoction collector.

6

Pour hot water over the coffee mix and cover the apparatus to let the coffee steam bounce back.

7

For an alternate method, line a sieve with muslin cloth and add 2 heaped tablespoons of coffee and chicory mix.

8

Press the coffee mix lightly with the back of a spoon and add hot water in batches.

9

Wait for 20 minutes for the decoction to drip through.

10

Check the decoction after 20 minutes; it should be nice, intense, and thick.

11

Heat full fat milk in a separate container and add sugar to taste.

12

Once the milk reaches a rolling boil, prepare to make the coffee.

13

Take the prepared decoction and add it to a dabra or cup.

14

Pour the hot milk over the decoction and stir.
