1

Rinse 400 grams of tour Dal in some water until clean.

2

Cook the rinsed Dal in a pressure cooker with 800 mL of water, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder.

3

Close the lid and cook for 10-12 minutes in the pressure cooker, or about 30-40 minutes in a normal pan.

4

Let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes before opening the cooker.

5

In a separate pan, heat 2-3 tablespoons of ghee until melted.

6

Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds and let them sizzle.

7

Chop 1 medium onion and add it to the pan, cooking until softened and light golden in color.

8

Chop 2-3 cloves of garlic and add them to the pan, cooking until fragrant.

9

Add 1 chopped tomato to the pan and cook for about 5 minutes until softened.

10

Stir in 1/4 teaspoon of red chili powder and mix well.

11

Chop some fresh coriander and add it to the pan for garnish.

12

Check the cooked Dal; if it is too thick, add extra boiling water to reach desired consistency.

13

Transfer the Dal to a serving bowl and finish with fresh coriander.
