Avocado oil has a higher smoke point but vegetable oil is often cheaper.

Slice your blocks of halloumi into 6 equal chunks (12 in total).

Line up 3 bowls: first one with flour and smoked paprika, second with beaten eggs, and the last with breadcrumbs.

Coat the fries with the flour/smoked paprika mixture, then dip in the egg, then coat with breadcrumbs. Repeat the egg dip and breadcrumbs again for extra coating.

Heat the oil in a suitably sized pot and test with a piece of batter; if it sizzles, it's ready.

Deep fry the halloumi fries in batches for a few minutes until golden and/or the cheese begins to leak.

Lay the fried halloumi fries on a paper towel before serving.
