Bobotie

1 whole onion
2 tablespoons oil
2 cloves garlic
500 grams lean beef mince
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon turmeric
2 tablespoons masala
1/4 cup chutney
200 ml milk
2 eggs

Chop 1 whole onion and add it to a pan with 2 tablespoons of oil.

Add optional chili to taste and 2 cloves of chopped garlic.

Cook the onion until it gets a nice color.

Add 500 grams of lean beef mince and 1 teaspoon of salt, cooking for about 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, add 1 teaspoon of turmeric and 2 tablespoons of masala (curry powder or roasted masala).

Cook the mixture for a few more minutes, adjusting spices to taste.

Add 1/4 cup of chutney and let it cook for another 10 minutes.

Transfer the meat mixture into a baking dish.

In a bowl, whisk together 200 ml of milk and 2 eggs.

Pour the custard mixture over the meat in the baking dish and place bay leaves on top.

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and bake for about 30 minutes until the custard sets.
