Instructions

  1. 1Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. 2In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. 3Add the vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
  4. 4Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. 5If using, fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. 6Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. 7Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass or your hand.
