Soak 1 cup of red lentils for 1 to 2 hours.

In a pot, combine soaked lentils, 4 cups of water, and 1 teaspoon of salt; bring to a boil and simmer for about 25 minutes.

Finely dice 1/3 of an onion and 8 cloves of garlic.

In a pan, melt 1/3 stick of butter over medium to low heat.

Stir in 1 teaspoon of red chili powder, 1 teaspoon of coriander powder, and 1 teaspoon of cumin powder; mix for a couple of seconds.

Add 1/4 cup of water and some fresh coriander to the mixture; stir well.
