Traditionally served warm, it features a delightful combination of crispy kataifi pastry and melted cheese, soaked in a sweet syrup. This dish is often enjoyed during special occasions and celebrations, symbolizing hospitality and sweetness in Turkish culture. Today, künefe has gained international fame, with variations appearing in many countries, showcasing its versatile appeal.

Phyllo dough can be a lighter alternative, while coconut offers a unique flavor.
Rub half of the butter into the baking pan.
Rub the other half into another pan, or into the same pan while turning the künefe.
Place wire kadayif on a board and press it to about 1 centimeter thick.
Divide the wire kadayif into two equal parts.
Sprinkle half of the wire kadayif into the pan, pressing it thoroughly to remove air.
Take the boiling syrup off the stove for about 3 minutes.
Sprinkle the künefe cheese over the first layer of wire kadayif.
Sprinkle the remaining wire kadayif on top of the cheese, pressing hard to ensure the cheese flows through.
Cook over low heat for about 10 minutes until golden brown, moving the pan over the heat.
Trim the edges during cooking.
Turn the künefe over, using butter to cook the other side.
Cook the other side until golden brown.
After waiting for 2 minutes, pour the syrup over the künefe while it is still hot.
