250 grams Yellow Gram Lentils
1/2 cup Green Gram Lentils
1 medium sized Onion
2 medium sized Tomatoes
7 to 8 Garlic Cloves
3 - 4 Green Chilies
1 Black Cardamom
2 inches Cinamon Stick
2 Bay Leaves
1/2 cup Turmeric Powder
1/4 tsp Asafoetida
1 tsp Salt
4 cups Water
2 tbsp Cooking Oil
2 tbsp Clarified Butter
1 tsp Cumin Seeds
1/2 tsp Asafoetida
2 tbsp Chopped Garlic
1 tbsp Chopped Green Chilies
3 to 4 Dried Red Chilies
1 medium sized Chopped Onion
1 medium sized Chopped Tomato
1 tsp Kashmiri Red Chili Powder

Rinse the yellow and green gram lentils and soak them for a while.

In a pot, add the soaked lentils, water, turmeric powder, salt, and bring to a boil.

Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer until the lentils are cooked through.

In a separate pan, heat cooking oil and clarified butter.

Add cumin seeds, black cardamom, cinnamon stick, and bay leaves to the hot oil.

Add chopped onions, garlic, and green chilies, and sauté until golden brown.

Stir in chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.

Add the cooked lentils to the sautéed mixture and mix well.

Adjust seasoning and add more water if necessary to reach desired consistency.

Finish with chopped coriander leaves and ginger juliennes before serving.
