Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Divide the risen dough into equal pieces and shape into buns.
Make a small indentation in each bun and fill with custard.
Cover the buns and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with coconut flakes.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
