Peel and cut yam into chunks.

Cut pumpkin into pieces and remove any spoiled parts.

Steam yam and pumpkin together for about 20 minutes until soft.

Boil 15 pieces of pandan leaves with half a cup of water for fragrance.

Add 2 heaping tablespoons of sugar to the steamed yam and mix well until the sugar melts.

Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until a fine paste.

Add 160 ml of coconut milk and 50 ml of water to the blended yam and mix.

Blend again until smooth.

Cook the blended yam paste in a pot with a little water and pandan leaves, stirring constantly for about 9-10 minutes until thick and gluey.

Remove pandan leaves from the yam paste.

Steam pumpkin with 3 strips of pandan leaves and 1 cup of water.

Blend the steamed pumpkin until fine and mix with sugar and pandan leaves for flavor.

Layer the pumpkin paste on top of the yam paste and garnish with gingko nuts.
