Cilantro or green onions can add freshness without the cost.

Preheat the oven to 450°F.

In a large bowl, place 1 pound of mushrooms.

Drizzle the mushrooms with 1 tablespoon of oil, add minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of thyme, and salt and pepper to taste.

Toss the mushrooms to coat them evenly with the mixture.

In a baking dish or roasting dish, place the mushrooms stem side up.

Drizzle the mushrooms with 2 tablespoons of melted butter.

Place the dish in the oven and roast for 15 to 18 minutes or until the mushrooms are golden brown.

Remove the mushrooms from the oven and let them cool for a minute.

Plate the mushrooms, arranging them nicely on a plate.

Strain off some of the garlic butter into a side dish for dipping.
