coconut milk

🥗Healthier: almond milk

💰Cheaper: evaporated milk

Evaporated milk is more affordable while still providing creaminess.

scotch bonnet pepper

🥗Healthier: habanero pepper

💰Cheaper: jalapeño pepper

Jalapeño is milder and easier to find.

1

Wash the crab with lemon juice and water, then strain.

2

Season the crab with green seasoning and a little of each spice: curry powder, amchar masala, and cumin.

3

Rub the seasoning into the crab, ensuring it gets into all the gaps and crevices.

4

Let the crab marinate for about an hour (overnight is better).

5

Heat oil in a Dutch pot and add garlic.

6

Add the remaining spices (curry powder, amchar masala, cumin) and a little water to prevent burning, cooking until it forms a paste.

7

Add the marinated crab to the pot, stirring to coat it in the spice mixture.

8

Add scotch bonnet and coconut milk, then check seasoning and add salt and black pepper.

9

Cover and cook for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the crab to steam in the coconut milk.
