Today, it remains a beloved staple in Quebecois cuisine and has gained popularity across Canada, often enjoyed during festive gatherings and family meals.

Pour 2 cups of maple syrup into a pot.
Add 2 cups of heavy cream to the pot and stir to combine.
Turn the heat to medium and heat the mixture without boiling, then set aside.
In a separate bowl, combine 3/4 cup of granulated sugar and 3/4 cup of unsalted butter.
Use a whisk or electric mixer to combine the sugar and butter until smooth.
Add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the mixture.
Add 2 eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition to help emulsify the mixture.
Once combined, add 1 teaspoon of baking powder and a pinch of salt to the mixture.
Gradually add 1 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour and use a rubber spatula to mix until you have a thick cake batter.
Transfer the batter into a baking dish or cake pan, using a rubber spatula to spread it out.
Pour the maple syrup and cream mixture over the cake batter until it is almost fully submerged.
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
Bake the pudding chomeur for 30 minutes.
Check if it's fully baked using a skewer or toothpick.
