Season with salt, black pepper, and nutmeg to taste.
Cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 10-12 minutes.
Carefully flip the rösti using a plate and cook the other side until golden, another 8-10 minutes.
If desired, add cheese, bacon, or onion on top before flipping.
Once both sides are crispy, remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Garnish with fresh parsley or chives before serving.
