Today, it has gained popularity beyond Kenyan borders, with variations appearing in East African cuisine and among diaspora communities worldwide.

Add beef to a pan and bring it to a boil until the water is completely dried out.
Add dried rosemary to the beef after adding water, or later if preferred.
Once the beef is tender and dry, scrape off the delicious goodness at the bottom of the pan.
Add olive oil to the pan and fry the beef until browned.
Add chopped onions and fry until they are nice and tender.
Add blended garlic and ginger; cook briefly before adding tomatoes.
Add tomatoes and cook until they are nice and soft.
Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika to taste.
Lower the heat and cook for about 20 minutes.
If a thicker sauce is desired, add tomato paste or Royco.
Once the meat is cooked and tomatoes are soft, add coriander and fry until soft.
