Perfect Pound Cake Recipe

Sift 1.5 cups of all-purpose flour into a large bowl.

Add 1 teaspoon of salt and 0.5 teaspoon of baking powder to the flour and whisk together.

In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, add 1 cup of unsalted butter.

Cream the butter until fluffy.

Add 1 cup of sugar to the creamed butter and mix well.

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Add 0.5 cup of sour cream and 2 tablespoons of vanilla extract, mix until combined.

Dump the flour mixture into the wet ingredients and mix on low until almost combined, then finish mixing by hand to avoid over-activating gluten.

Butter and flour a 1.5 pound loaf pan.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.

Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 40 minutes or until golden brown and a skewer comes out clean.
