1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp unsalted butter

In a medium saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt.

Gradually add the milk to the dry ingredients, whisking until smooth.

Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and butter until fully melted and combined.
