1

Introduce the ingredients: self rising flour, sugar, 1 egg, butter, and water.

2

Sift the self rising flour into an empty bowl.

3

Add sugar to the sifted flour and mix until well combined.

4

Add butter to the mixture and mix with fingers until a sandy texture is achieved.

5

Make a well in the center of the mixture and set it aside.

6

In another bowl, add 1 egg and mix it with tap water until well combined.

7

Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and mix with a spatula until a sticky texture forms, but not too sticky.

8

Transfer the dough to a floured work surface and toss it around.

9

Mold the dough into a ball using either floured palms or oiled palms to prevent sticking.

10

Fry the dough in deep hot moderate oil, ensuring not to use too much heat to avoid uncooked insides.

11

Gently drop the dough balls into the oil one at a time.

12

After about 2 minutes, flip the dough to cook the other side as well.

13

Keep an eye on the frying process and flip occasionally.

14

Once golden brown, remove from heat and drain excess oil in a strainer.

15

Serve warm or cold.
