1 diced green chili
1 tablespoon diced garlic
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
2 pinches hing
2 dried red chilies

Soak 1.5 cups of toor dhal for an hour and rinse well.

Add the dhal, 1 teaspoon of turmeric, and 3 cups of water into the pressure cooker and set it for 15 minutes.

In a medium-sized skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of ghee over medium heat and add 1.5 tablespoons of cumin seeds until they pop.

Add 1.5 tablespoons of garlic and ginger paste and then add the diced onion, cooking until softened.

Stir in the diced green chili and then add the diced tomatoes, letting them simmer for a few minutes.

Add 0.5 teaspoon of Kashmiri red chili powder and 1 teaspoon of Kasuri methi, mixing well.

Add the chopped coriander and then mix in the cooked dhal with the masala.

Add 1 tablespoon of garam masala to the mixture.

In a small skillet, heat the remaining ghee and add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds, cooking for about a minute.

Add 2 pinches of hing, 1 tablespoon of diced garlic, and 2 dried red chilies to the ghee and cook briefly before adding this tadka to the dal.
