This technique allows home bakers to achieve a crusty exterior and chewy interior without the need for kneading, making it accessible for all skill levels.

Baking powder can be a cheaper leavening agent.
Combine 3 cups of white flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, and yeast in a bowl.
Pour in lukewarm water (about 110 degrees) into the flour mixture.
Use a flat spatula to mix until all flour is incorporated, resulting in a slightly dry dough.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit for 24 hours.
After 24 hours, check the dough for bubbles and a sticky texture.
Scoop the dough onto a floured surface (using parchment paper).
Flour your hands and shape the dough into a round loaf.
Cover the shaped loaf with a towel and let it rise for about 1 hour (or up to 2 hours if not in a hurry).
Preheat the Dutch oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
Cut a shallow cross on top of the loaf with a bread knife.
Transfer the loaf into the preheated Dutch oven using the parchment paper.
Cover the Dutch oven and bake for 30 minutes.
Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes at 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
Remove the bread from the Dutch oven using the parchment paper and let it cool at room temperature.
