Preheat the oven to 375° F (190° C).
Roughly chop the chocolate to help it melt faster.
Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler or a bowl over a pot of simmering water, ensuring the bowl doesn't touch the water.
Stir occasionally until fully melted, about 5 minutes.
Add the sugar and stir for a few more minutes until it melts slightly.
Remove the bowl from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
Once cooled slightly, add the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
After adding the fifth egg, the batter will be quite thick.
Add the flour and stir to combine.
Pour the batter into a lightly greased or non-stick pan.
Place the torte in the center of the oven and bake for about 20 to 30 minutes.
Check for doneness; it should be just set and cooked through in the middle with only a few moist crumbs on a fork.
Let the torte cool for a few minutes before removing it from the pan.
Loosen the edges with a rounded knife and carefully turn it out onto a cooling rack.
If needed, tap the bottom or shake it to help loosen it.
Let it cool for a few more minutes, then flip it onto a serving plate.
Leave the torte to cool at room temperature for at least 3 hours before serving.
Serve with a bit of cream glaze and a few fresh berries if desired.
