Retro Aussie Golden Syrup Dumplings!

Golden Syrup Dumplings
Quantities are estimated based on standard recipes for your convenience. The actual ingredients used in this video are accurate.
Add flour, cold butter, optional sugar, and mixed spice into a bowl.
Mix with your fingers until crumbly and fluffy texture is achieved.
Pour in the milk and mix with a fork until the dough comes together.
Scoop up a tablespoon of dough and roll it into rough balls, about the size of walnuts.
You should end up with around 14 balls.
Grab a saucepan and heat it up.
Melt the butter in the saucepan and add brown sugar.
Pour in the water and add the golden syrup, scraping in all the sticky bits.
Stir the mixture to combine.
Once bubbling, gently plunk in the dumplings into the sauce.
Turn the dumplings over to coat them in the sauce.
Cover with a lid and let them simmer for around 20 minutes.
