1 cup whipping cream

Beat the eggs first with the vanilla for about 3 mins.

Slowly add in the sugar and keep mixing until the mixture gets fluffier and lighter in color.

Once fluffy and pale yellow, on low speed, gradually add in the flour mixture (flour, baking powder, and salt).

Do not over beat the batter.

Pour the batter into a pre-greased pan and place it in the oven at 350F for 25-30 mins.

Check if the cake is ready by poking it with a toothpick; it should come out clean.

Set the cake aside to cool down.

Mix together the milk, sugar, and heavy cream (if using) to pour onto the cake once it reaches almost room temperature.

Cover the cake with foil after pouring the milk mixture on it.

Place the sugar in a deep pot over medium heat and stir until it caramelizes.

Add the butter and keep stirring, being careful of splashes.

Once the butter melts, slowly add in the cream and keep stirring.

Place the saved whipping cream in a piping bag or ziplock bag, snip a tiny part of the corner, and draw straight lines across the cake; then make gentle strokes in opposite directions with the back of a knife.
